The Annual Report

Tue Sep 4, 2007, 7:24 PM
Well here's another annual journal entry. My first one was in June 05, second was in March 06, and now this September 07. Three years on DEVart, and three entries. I usually spend more time trying to figure out what to put up than what to say. I figure my deviations, and comments on said deviations speak well for them selves.

My life has changed a lot since I first became a part of DEVart. Previously, I was a budding student going into Design school, and now, I'm a budding designer well into a career after two diplomas, one in Graphic Design and one in Web Design. My mindset has changed greatly compared to what it used to be, I was all about making "cool" designs, and making people laugh, or say "ooooh" or "ahahaha". I still do this, but I like to do it now in ways I would have never imagined three years ago. I'm now working in a design firm in which I'm not being allowed to be too creative right now, which is good, because I get lots of experience, but exhausting because everything is so "by-the-book". When I get home after work each day all I want to do is sleep. Which isn't fun when all I want to do during the day is let out my creative flow. My exhaustion and frustration take over my ability to be creative.

But alas, as experience grows, my though process matures, and I will get stronger as a designer and as a creative mind. I expect to still keep my deviations going, and I suspect they're just get better and better.

Well, I better be off. Talk to ya in another year.

Hey cool, a web designer in Nanaimo! I am thinking of moving there in a year or so... I like your gallery. Do you/did you go to Malaspina?
:iconwhat-name:
Believe it or not, there's lots of us here haha. I'm not doing Web now, I'm doing design for print, but I have the credentials! I did go to Malaspina for 3 years total for the two diplomas. What is your reasoning for moving to Nanaimo?
:iconmisty-warner-mlp:
My roommate wants to open up a store, and theres no market for one here because there is already two like it-- it seems like something that would do well in Nanaimo. We also want to move to the island/lower mainland area since thats where all our friends are, or will be soon. We don't want to live in a big city (scary!) so it seems like Nanaimo would be a good compromise :)
:iconwhat-name:
Yeah, I like Nanaimo. It has everything, and if you find something that you need, Victoria will have it. Nanaimo is a good "Small" City. :)
:iconjayester:
Haha, you found me - even tho you cheated. I suppose I can still thaaaank ya for the friend add ;) See ya 'round.
